The whole story

Pop? Not yet! Lili blew a bubble as big as her nose. It floated beside her in the shuttle. Her curls floated too. One sticky thumb held the wand. “I want a bubble moon,” she said. Pip, the cleaning robot, tucked away his tiny dustpan. “Just a little moon?”

Lili blew again. Little moons. Wobbly moons. A moon with a smaller moon stuck to its side. Without gravity pulling them down, the bubbles drifted all around the cabin. “Beep! Beep! Untidy planets!” cried Pip. He waved his dustpan. The bubbles sailed past it.

Then one bubble settled on a blinking red button. “Not that one!” Pip squeaked. Lili tucked her wand into its bottle. Holding a handrail, she reached with Pip’s soft cloth. “Got you, moon.” She caught the bubble just before it burst over the button. Plip.

Together they dabbed the drifting bubbles. Pip caught seven. Lili caught eight. One caught Pip on the nose. “Oh,” he beeped. “A nose wash.” Lili giggled and wiped him gently. “Could we keep one moon tomorrow?” she asked. Pip’s eyes blinked blue. He considered.

“One bubble a day,” said Pip. “Always in the round room.” Tomorrow, Lili blew one beautiful bubble there. Pip put his dustpan down. They watched their little moon drift between them. “Very tidy,” whispered Lili. “Very round,” whispered Pip.
