Plip! A raindrop landed on Nima’s nose. “One for me,” she said. “One for my collection!” The gentle long-neck tucked broad, curled leaves along her neck. Each held a little rain. She could balance seven without spilling—even when she sneezed. Well, almost.

Plip! A raindrop landed on Nima’s nose. “One for me,” she said. “One for my collection!” The gentle long-neck tucked broad, curled leaves along her neck. Each held a little rain. She could balance seven without spilling—even when she sneezed. Well, almost.
“Silly hobby!” said the little lizard. “Very silly,” agreed the other dinosaurs. Nima smiled. “I like carrying a bit of sky.” She stepped carefully beneath the shady tree. Her leaves wibbled. Her tail wobbled. Not one tiny sky fell out.
Then the rain stopped. Day after day, sunshine warmed the valley. Puddles shrank to muddy buttons, then disappeared. The very thirsty lizard peered into an empty footprint. “Not even a lick,” he whispered. Nima looked up at her shady, leafy collection.
“Come here,” she said. For the first time, Nima wanted everything to spill. She bent toward the hollow rock. Seven leaves trembled. Then—splish, splosh, SPLOOSH! Water filled the rock and trickled over its edge, following little grooves through the dust. “Oh!” said Nima.
The grooves became tiny streams. Soon the whole valley was sipping. The lizard drank beside the dinosaurs, his toes deliciously wet. “I saved some rain,” Nima murmured. “I didn’t know I’d saved a valley.” The lizard brought her a leaf. “For your next bit of sky.”
